Advice
Take advantage of the classes when guest speakers come in - you can learn a lot from them about future career opportunities in all different fields.
Advice
Review carefully Prof. Piacente's notes on graded assignments and do practice stories as much as you can.
Advice
Don't fret about your grades on the early assignments. You will not like them but they will drastically improve. Just focus on becoming a better writer and listen to Prof. Piacente's advice and you'll be amazed how much better your stories (and grades) are by the end.
Advice!
Produce a positive partnership with Professor Piacente and your peers. You'll enjoy class much more and find that there's humor in everything.
Also, alliteration is fun.
Advice!
All your writing assignments will be open book, but don't think that means you don't have to read or learn what's in the book. Assignments will be much easier if you actually digest the information from the book.

Advice: JJ Kim
Make sure you read out loud. It is tedious, and quite irritating when all you are focused on is getting your assignment down and turned in, but trust me when I say this: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Read Out Loud To Yourself (at least once). I think you'll enjoy your grade a lot more when you do. Good Luck!
Advice
NEVER BE REDUNDANT. Redundancy is ill advised. If you're redundant, you're not practicing good writing skills.
Advice: Caitlin Wills
Don't sweat a bad grade for your first attempt at a new style; they're all different, and they all get easier with time and practice.
Advice for Next Semester: Jade Ryan
If you are doing poorly on current events quizzes, come to class early and discuss the articles for the past week with your classmates. Also, make a list of the common mistakes you make on your writing assignments, because I promise you will do them again. That way you can try to catch yourself early.
Advice for Next Semester: Jess Noonan
Meet with Professor Piacente early in the semester to ensure you have your writing on the right track.
